Often, a bad capacitor will only show leakage when it is exposed to a high voltage. Most modern capacitors testers only check the capacitor under low voltage, and may give readings that are different than when testing under high voltage. Tester can test paper / mica / film capacitors as well as electrolytic caps. This tester also offers a bridge function to measure the value of the capacitor, however this function is not working, see more information below. Tester is working for leakage tests, however the bridge function is not working. The range selector switch is stuck and can't be changed. The mount has been cut up in efforts to free up the switch, and the switch can no longer be secured to the front panel. See photos for details of switch damage. The two electrolytic capacitors should be replaced for reliable operation if the unit is to be used regularly.
